Christmas Magic Returns to the Castle: Scenes from the Nutcracker Expands for 2026!
Following last year's unforgettable performance, we are thrilled to welcome back a cherished Christmas tradition to Berkeley Springs. This December, the historic stone walls of the Berkeley Springs Castle will once again set the stage for Scenes from the Nutcracker, presented in partnership with Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet.
For 2026, we have revamped the event format to create an even more seamless and memorable experience for our guests—including the addition of a second showtime to accommodate high demand, as well as festive refreshments available to enjoy throughout your visit.
A Revamped Format & Expanded Showtimes
To ensure every guest enjoys an intimate, relaxed visit with plenty of elbow room, we have added a second seating and refined the afternoon's schedule:
- Morning Performance: Arrival at 11:00 AM (Performance begins at 11:30 AM)
- Afternoon Performance: Arrival at 2:00 PM (Performance begins at 2:30 PM)
Guests will arrive at their ticketed entry time to take in the decorations and enjoy refreshments before gathering for a special presentation of Tchaikovsky’s timeless Christmas classic. Talented dancers from Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet will perform beloved excerpts and divertissements right before your eyes in their authentic, stage-worn costumes.
Before and after each performance, dancers will be available throughout the decorated halls for photographs. Bring your camera—standing alongside the Mouse King or Clara herself beneath the Castle's paneled halls makes for an extraordinary Christmas card keepsake.
Three Floors of Christmas Splendor & Refreshments
The Castle will be dressed in full Christmas finery across all three levels. The centerpiece of the season remains our magnificent, live fifteen-foot Christmas tree soaring toward the ceiling of the Great Hall.
Between photo opportunities and exploring the decorated rooms, guests are invited to pause and enjoy delicious Christmas refreshments, adding an extra layer of warmth and hospitality to the afternoon.

Capacity inside the Castle is strictly controlled to preserve the quality of the performance and ensure everyone has an unobstructed view. Given last year’s sold- out response and our limited capacity per seating, early reservations are essential.

Partnering for Local Preservation and the Arts
Your ticket purchase directly strengthens two regional non-profit missions. Proceeds from this event are shared between the Berkeley Castle Foundation, supporting the ongoing structural restoration of our 1885 landmark, and the Virginia Youth Ballet, the 501(c)(3) organization that provides classical ballet training and performance opportunities to young regional dancers through Vostrikov’s.
