Built by 100 German masons over 6 years, the 9,300 square foot Castle is constructed of local silica sandstone, painstakingly brought to the property by horse and wagon in the Gilded Age. The Castle has been modernized over the years while retaining its classic charm, including a lavish ballroom complete with two stone fireplaces and Grand Staircase. With a dungeon tucked into a secret passageway, griffins providing stony vigilance, steep topography maximizing natural defense, and a turreted rooftop with battlements and a spectacular view, the Castle hearkens back to European traditions.

Sold Out! Summer Tours Fly Off the Shelves

We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news: all of our 2026 Historical Tour dates sold out in less than two weeks!

When we announced our summer schedule back on Feb 17th, we hoped the response would be strong. We never imagined it would be this overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who grabbed a ticket—we cannot wait to welcome you to the Castle and share its stories with you.

This enthusiastic response is a testament to the passion of this community and the dedication of our incredible volunteers. Speaking of which...

More Tours Are Coming!

Because of this demand, we are actively working to add new tour dates later in the season. Keep an eye open for announcements regarding:

  • Apple Butter Festival weekend tours
  • Special Christmas season tours (the Castle is truly magical when decorated for Christmas!)

Want to Help Us Offer Even More?

Our tours are led entirely by volunteers, and our current crew is just six people strong. The simple truth is: more volunteers mean more tours. If you love the Castle and enjoy sharing history with others, we would love to have you on our team. No experience is necessary—just enthusiasm and a love for this historic treasure.

Interested in joining our tour guide family? Email Donnie Mason at events@berkeleyspringscastle.com. We provide all the training and support you need.

Thank you again for this amazing response. The best is yet to come!
