Built by 100 German masons over 6 years, the 9,300 square foot Castle is constructed of local silica sandstone, painstakingly brought to the property by horse and wagon in the Gilded Age. The Castle has been modernized over the years while retaining its classic charm, including a lavish ballroom complete with two stone fireplaces and Grand Staircase. With a dungeon tucked into a secret passageway, griffins providing stony vigilance, steep topography maximizing natural defense, and a turreted rooftop with battlements and a spectacular view, the Castle hearkens back to European traditions.

Summer Tours are Nearly Gone—and a Sneak Peek at Fall!

Summer Tours are Nearly Gone—and a Sneak Peek at Fall!

The summer sun is still shining, but our tour calendar is winding down! We have been thrilled to welcome so many guests to the Castle this season, but if you have been waiting to book your historical tour, the time to act is now.

Final Summer Tour Availability

We are down to our final few tickets for the summer season. If you would like to experience the magic of the Castle before we transition to our autumn schedule, we have limited spots remaining for the following dates:

  • Sunday, August 16 at 12:00 PM
  • Monday, August 17 at 12:00 PM
  • Monday, August 31 at 1:30 PM

These remaining slots are expected to go quickly. You can secure your tickets by visiting our [tickets page].

Looking Ahead: Fall and the Apple Butter Festival

Our Fall tour schedule is currently being finalized and will be announced very soon! We know many of you are already looking forward to visiting us during the famous Apple Butter Festival.

Please be advised: due to volunteer limitations during the festival weekend, we will be offering fewer tours than in previous years. Because demand for these specific dates is always exceptionally high, we anticipate that our Apple Butter Festival tour tickets will sell out almost immediately upon release. Keep a close eye on our website and social media channels for the official schedule announcement.

We Need Your Help!

Do you love the Castle and want to help us keep our history accessible to the public? We are actively looking for new volunteers to join our team!

More volunteers mean more tours and more opportunities for our community to experience this historic landmark. If you are interested in becoming a tour guide or helping us host our events, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Donnie Mason at events@berkeleyspringscastle.com to learn more about how you can get involved.Thank you for your continued support of the Berkeley Springs Castle Foundation. We look forward to seeing you soon!
